By agreeing to attend an event hosted by The Muses of Texas Book Events, you agree to the following requirements.

  1. To follow all code of conduct rules at an event or while participating in any of our social media communities.

  2. Each event’s Head Host will issue invoices via e-mail or other means communicated to the attendees by that Head Host. Payment options will be provided on the invoices, and if other options are needed, the individual attendee can discuss them with each Head Host. All payments are Non-Refundable.

  3. The remaining table fee will be invoiced the same way as the deposit invoice, unless the Head Host specifies otherwise.

  4. If you have to drop from the event for whatever reason, The Muses of Texas Book Events will replace you with an author from the waitlist. You will NOT have the opportunity to find a replacement.

  5. Any Complaints or Issues may be submitted in writing to The Muses of Texas Book Signing Events via e-mail. The Muses will review the email and respond promptly.

The Muses of Texas Book Events will provide.

  1. Provide a venue with tables and chairs.

  2. Provide an accessible venue.

  3. Provide a safe venue and as free of issues as possible.

  4. To handle all situations as professionally as possible.

  5. To provide other small necessities as needed. Example: access to water and private amenities.

  6. To promote the event to the best of our abilities. All attendees must also promote on at least one social media outlet at least thirty days before the event.

  7. If The Muses of Texas Book Events must terminate business with an attendee for any reason, they must still adhere to the no-slander section of the code of conduct. If not, we will issue a cease-and-desist notice via e-mail or other communication methods, e.g., a Direct Message on a social media platform. If the slander continues after we issue the notice, we may take further legal action.

This set of Best Practices is a Living Document and may change in the future to address any issues we may encounter.

Expectations for all who sign or sell at a Muses of Texas event

There will be zero tolerance for slandering other attending authors/narrators/vendors/sponsors or attendees, whether in person or on social media.

Punctuality: Arrive on time and be prepared to start signing at the scheduled time.

Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the event. Dress appropriately and be courteous to all attendees.

Engagement: Interact positively with attendees. Make eye contact, smile, and show genuine interest in their comments and questions.

Respect: Respect each attendee's time. Keep conversations brief to ensure everyone gets a chance to meet you. Do not stand in front of your table or walk to other tables to "poach" readers.

Personalization: Personalize each autograph if requested, but keep time constraints in mind.

Promotion: Promote the event and your work on social media before and after the event. Encourage attendees to share their experiences.

Compliance: Follow all event guidelines, including those related to the number of books signed and any specific instructions from the event organizers.

Gratitude: Thank attendees for their support and participation. Acknowledge the event organizers' and staff's efforts.

Disclosure:

The Muses of Texas and its affiliates are not responsible for lost or stolen items, dissatisfied readers, or any damages that may occur during the author’s time at the event. The author agrees to any logistics for readers to pick up products.

The Muses of Texas hosts and the event center owner may eject anyone who does not abide by the code of conduct.

If you are unable to attend the event at any point, no refund will be given, and you will not be allowed to find a replacement, as your spot will go to the next person on the waiting list.

Statement:

Book signings are meant to be positive, respectful interactions between authors and readers. As professionals, we can handle those interactions without unnecessary oversight or micromanagement.

If an author has personal boundaries, whether regarding the number of items they will sign, physical contact, or photography, those preferences should be communicated directly and respectfully to attendees at the time of the interaction. Likewise, attendees are expected to respect those boundaries when they are expressed.

Clear, courteous communication in the moment ensures a better experience for everyone involved.
